Two killed in bridge collapse in K'taka

Tumkur, Karnataka, Jun 3 (UNI) Two labourers were killed and six others trapped when a bridge under construction across Hemavathy irrigation canal collapsed in Gubbi taluk in this district.

Police sources said yesterday the mishap occurred at about 1730 hrs.

The bodies of the labourers were recovered, while rescue operations were on to save the workers caught in the rubble.

According to the project engineers, as many as 24 people were engaged in the work.
