Torrential rain in Madikeri dist

Madikeri, Karnataka, June 3 (UNI) Rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, lashed the district, the source of river Cauvery said.

Several power lines were damaged and telephone lines cut off due to the torrential rain. With the snapping of power lines following lightning, the situation in Kodagu, further worsened, the sources said yesterday.

Low-lying areas in many parts of the district were inundated as the rain water entered several houses.

The District Administration had geared up to face the monsoon, the sources added.
