Smugglers kill 2 in MP

Umaria, MP, June 3 (UNI) Two daily wage-earners of the Forest Department were strangled while on guard duty in Umaria Forest Range last night allegedly by sandalwood smugglers, police said today.

The victims were Dhannu Yadav (30) and Onkar (32). The smugglers fled when a third employee reached the scene. Cordons were set up in the district.

''Ex gratia of Rs 1 lakh each was immediately doled out,'' Divisional Forest Officer K K Bhardwaj told UNI.
