Rs 37 lakh looted from SBI's cash van
Amritsar, Jun 3 (UNI) Unidentified maranders today shot at a security guard of the State Bank of India (SBI) at Khajana Gate and decamped with the bank's cash van, which had Rs 37 lakh.
Border Range IG Rajpal Meena said the van was stationed outside the bank gate and the employees were taking out cash boxes from the van to keep in the bank.
Suddenly, some masked man, who were in a car, started firing at the security guard. They managed to take away the injured guard's gun and decamped with the cash.
Later, police impounded the empty van from an outskirt area of the city near a bridge at Bohoru village.
After the incident, the police has increased the security cover of the city and heavy checking is going on to nab the absconding robbers.
