Plea to fill up vacant posts in Pondy
Puducherry,Jun 3 (UNI) Puducherry State Government Employees Central Federation today urged the administration to take immediate steps to fill up the 4,000 vacant posts in different departments here.
Addressing the press,Federation General Secretary Latchumanasamy said senior officials were adopting "suppressive" attitude towards daily-wage employees under them.
As many as 5,000 daily-wage employees had remained in the same position for the last 15 years without any promotion earning Rs 35 to 187 a day.
When several crores of rupees were being waived by the PIPDIC, the daily wagers were not being paid fully, he claimed.
Mr Latchumanasamy said the court had given direction to appoint daily wagers through the employment exchange and regularise their services. The administration should take steps to implement it,he said.
The Federation would organise a series of agitations for the cause of the daily wagers from June 18.
