Kidwai, Hooda for clean environment

Chandigarh, Jun 3 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai and Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today called for effective implementation of relevant laws to curb the air, water and other kinds of environmental pollution.

The problems of use of oxytocin on plants and animals, bio-medical waste, air pollution and waste water should be checked properly and existing labour laws, rules and regulations should be implemented to solve these problems for keeping the environment clean and healthy in the state, they said.

Dr Kidwai and Mr Hooda were expressing their views at the 16th meeting of the State Environment Protection Council, Haryana held at Raj Bhavan here. The Governor is also the chairman of the Council.

The Governor said the problem of recharging the ground water should be taken up seriously especially for the southern Haryana as the water table in that part of the state had gone very low.

For this purpose, large tanks and a big recharging web should be prepared at different places in state, he suggested.
