Jaundice breaks out in Baripada
Baripada, Jun 3 (UNI) Panic gripped the town following the reports of outbreak of Jaundice in the town this morning.
Chief District Medical Officer(CDMO) Mayurbhanj Gopinath Mahalik who visited the affected area this morning said that use of contaminated drinking water might be the cause for the illness that so far remained confined to Ward No.15.
Dr Mahalik said so far fifteen people, including two women, were affected by the disease. Non-official sources, however, put the number at fifty.
Baripada Municipality Chairman K N Mohanty said a close watch was kept on the situation and steps were being tken for disinfection of all the drinking water sources in the area.
