Haryana to impart free computer training to SC students
Chandigarh, June 3 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to impart free computer training to the scheduled castes students of government colleges of the state for creating their employability in the field of information technology.
Haryana Education Minister Mange Ram Gupta said free computer training would be given to those scheduled castes students of government colleges who had appeared in University examination held in April or May 2008 in TDC-I and TDC II of all faculties.
The students who were already studying computer as a subject at TDC-I and TDC-II would not be included in this training programme, he clarified.
Mr Gupta said the department would also provide free computers to Scheduled Castes students of Government Colleges who had appeared in April or May, 2008 in TDC-II and had secured 60 per cent marks in Computer Training and minimum 40 per cent marks in previous (TDC-I) university examination.
Besides computers, they would also be provided UPS and Printer after completion of six months of training.
He said the Scheduled Castes students who were already studying computer as one of the subjects in TDC and appeared in TDC-III exams held in April or May 2008 would be provided computer with UPS and Printer provided they got 40 per cent marks in university exams in TDC-III.
The Education Minister said the students desirous of availing the facility would have to apply to the Principal of their colleges with the attested copies of scheduled castes certificate, Haryana Domicile certificate and certified degree of last examination passed.
