Five injured as rival SAD groups clash
Kapurthala, Jun 3 (UNI) Tension prevailed at village Sidhwan Dona in this district today after five persons were injured, two of them serioulsy, when two rival factions of Shiromani Akal Dal clashed near village Dudhianwal last night over some issues regarding recently concluded panchayat elections.
The injured were rushed to the local civil hospital from where two of the seriously injured, identified as Balbir Singh and Bachitar Singh, had to be shifted to a private hospital at Jalandhar.
According to police, the victims were returning to village Sidhwan Dona when they were waylaid and attacked with sharp-edged weapons by the rival faction near village Dudhianwal. In the clash, five persons were injured.
Police have registered a case of attempt to murder against 27 villagers belonging to both the groups and was keeping a close watch on the situation in the area.
No arrests have been made so far, sources said.
