Assurance Committee stresses on strengthening medicare facilities
Srinagar, June 3 (UNI) Stressing the need for evolving more transparency in the functioning of the Health Department, the Assurance Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly said the Department should identify areas of improvement and take remedial measures.
An official spokesman said today that the committee, which met under the chairmanship of Communist Party of India (M) MLA M Y Targami, examined the government assurances pertaining to Health and Medical Education Department.
The Committee expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Department for implementing most of the assurances given on the Floor of the House.
However, the Committee directed the Department to further strengthen the medicare facilities, especially in the rural and far-flung areas.
The department should evolve more transparency in its functioning, so that the benefit of medicare facilities reaches the needy. The Department should identify the areas of improvement and take remedial measures, the Committee maintained.
The Committee stressed on filling up of all the vacant posts on fast-track pattern, so that the people could get improved medicare facilities. The Committee specifically asked for the posting of suitable incumbent.
He said it examined the issue of adhoc drivers who are working in the Department for many years and operating the departmental ambulances. The Committee asked for their regularisation.
Secretary, Health and Medical Education, K B Jandial briefed the Committee about the steps taken for strengthening the medicare facilities in the State.
