Art of Living trauma relief through broadcast in China

Bangalore, June 3 : As part of its service to society, the Art of Living foundation based in Bangalore founded by spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravishankar has started working in quake hit China.

They have already helped more than 15,000 survivors through mediation and counselling. The Art of Living is using the broadcast medium for maximum outreach in quake-torn China.

Talking to ANI here, Mamta Kailkhura, press secretary of the Art of Living, has said that this was the first ever effort by the Art of Living foundation to help the survivors at earthquake hit areas in China to overcome the trauma.

"Volunteers offering relief at trauma relief drop-in centre that has been established by Art of Living for volunteers of the Communist Youth League.his League is the coordinating agency for search and recovery of victims. The volunteers, returning from disaster-hit regions, bear psychological imprints of the earthquake," Kailkhura said.

Thousands have already benefited from the Art of Living foundation relief operations.

The faculty of the Chengdu Paotongshu Primary School and over 240 personnel of the Sheraton, Intercontinental and the Kempinski hotels are some of the others who have undergone the workshop.

The Art of Living foundation has also provided much-needed medical supplies for the Field Disaster Hospital of the German Red Cross Society.

The first phase of relief operations saw free distribution of medicines and immediate relief material. When combined with emotional healing, the result is more holistic.

This approach to trauma-relief has met great success in Kosovo, Iraq, the rehabilitation efforts after Hurricane Katrina, and the Tsunami of South-East Asia. By K G Vasuki
