Apeejay Shipping Ltd to set up ship building yard at Dhamra

Bhubaneswar, Jun 3 (UNI) The High Level Clerance Authority (HLCA) of the Orissa government today cleared the Rs 2,200 crore project of the Apeejay Shipping Ltd to set up a ship building yard with repair facilities at Dhamra in Bhadrak district.

Briefing newspersons after the meeting, state Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy said the company had agreed to complete the project within five years of acquisition of land for the purpose.

The Chief Secretary said the HLCA also cleared nine other projects, including the Indian Oil Companies proposal for setting up Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Regions (PCPIR) at Paradeep.

The other projects cleared by the HLCA included the 2,000 MW Thermal Power Plant of Bhushan Energy Ltd, 1,000 MW Thermal Power Plant of Monnet Ispat and Energy Ltd and 1,000 MW Thermal Power Plant of Visa Power Ltd.

The authorities also cleared the Essar Steel Ltd's proposal to set up a 6.00 MTPA steel plant and 8.00 MTPA Iron Ore beneficiation plant.

The proposal of SMC Power Generation Ltd to enhance the steel making capacity from 0.5 MTPA to one million tonnes per annum, MSP Metaliks Ltd's proposal to raise the steel making capacity from 0.25 to one million tonnes per annum and Bhushan Steels Ltd's proposal to raise the capacity from 3.1 MTPA to nine MTPA were also cleared.

Mr Tripathy said the HLCA cleared the Welspun Power and Steel Ltd's proposal to set up a five million tonnes per annum iron ore benefication plant and three million tonnes per annum pellet plant.
