UPA Govt which is a threat to nation must go, asserts Advani
New Delhi, Jun 2 (UNI) After the BJP's victory in Karnataka, NDA's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani today virtually issued a poll cry about nine months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections to oust the "weak and paralysed UPA government" which he described as a threat to the nation.
Describing as enormous the psychological impact of the victory in Karnataka which had not only boosted the morale of the party but also ''pushed shell-shocked Congress into a state of utter despondency'', the Leader of the Opposition exuded confidence that all odds were in favour of BJP to regain power at the Centre and the party must get itself prepared to better the 1999 performance in the 2009 election.
Alluding to party President Rajnath Singh's remark yesterday that BJP is now the front runner in the Lok Sabha race, Mr Advani said "We have no choice but to convert this front-runner into a clear winner." But in the run-up to the 2009 Lok Sabha election, the party workers should not forget about the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Delhi but resolve to retain power in the three-BJP ruled states and wrest power in Delhi, Mr Advani said in his concluding remarks described as 'Margdarshan' to the two-day National Executive here this evening.
He profusely congratulated all those who worked for the success of the party in Karnataka and said the victory had established the BJP as an all India party and made the Congress shrink further.
Sharpening his attack on the UPA Government headed by a powerless Prime Minister, Mr Advani described the Congress alliance with the Left Parties as 'opportunistic', cautioning that whenever they combined together the country was in trouble, refering to their 70s alliance which led the country to the state of Emergency.
"The Prime Minister never had any control over either his Council of Ministers or the larger administrative set-up. Now his government presents the picture of an entity that is paralysed, unable to take any right decision, every Minister acting more or less independently, and many Ministers acting in a manner that has converted governance into pure commerce," he said.
