Two killed and six others trapped in bridge collapse

Tumkur, Karnataka, Jun 2(UNI) Two laborers were killed and other six feared trapped under the Cement concrete when a bridge under construction near Chelur police limits in Gubbi taluk this evening.

According to police sources the mishap occurred at about 1730 hours when the bridge under contstruction across Hemavathy irrigation canal collapsed.

Two bodies of the ill-fated laborers who were at work have been removed while rescue operations are going on to save laborers caught beneath.

According to site engineers of the bridge works, as many as 24 people were engaged for the work.
