Talks on "Vedi" demands held

Pathanamthitta, Jun 2 (UNI) A decision on the demands of "Sadhu Jana Vimochana Vedi" is in sight with the discussions held between "Vedi" leaders and District Collector Raju Narayana Swami here today.

The "Vedi" leaders would submit their main demands to the District Collector by tomorrow. They would forward them to the government.

The final decision rests with Kerala government. The deadline issued by the High Court to evict encroachers from the Chengara Estate owned by Harrison Malayalam Plantations peacefully was due to lapse on June six.

It was at the instance of Home Secretary that the Collector convened the conciliation talks today.

Vedi President Laha Gopalan, General Secretary Ms Saleena, Treasurer K K Achuthan and Convener of the struggle Ayyappan Kaithakara took part in the discussion.
