Sr citizen killed, house robbed in GK-II

New Delhi, Jun 2 (UNI) In the growing series of attacks on senior citizens in the capital, a 78-year-old woman was murdered in the posh Greater Kailash area of south Delhi in an apparent case of robbery.

Hanslata Maheshwari, who lived with her younger son Sudhir in 'E' Block GK-II, was found murdered in her bathroom late last night by him after he returned home from a closeby club in Alaknanda, according to sources.

Police said it was apparently a case of robbery as the house was ransacked and valuables missing. ''She might have been killed as she would have resisted their bid to loot the house. The matter is being investigated.'' On returning from the Jahanpanah Club at about 2230 hrs, Sudhir who had gone at about 2000 hrs to watch the IPL cricket finals match on the big screen there, found the main door of the house ajar, rooms ransacked, lockers broken and cupboards open.

He later found his mother dead in the bathroom with injuries on her head.

Sudhir, who runs a dry friut shop in Khari Baoli, later said his mother had been in good health and they had no enemies.

Vijay, the elder son of Ms Maheshwari, a widow, also has a shop in Khari Baoli and lives in 'M' Block of Greater Kailash - II.
