South West monsoon sets in Rayalaseema, parts of Coastal AP

Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) The South West monsoon today set in over Rayalaseema and parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, with Bobbili and Gajapathinagaram (both in Vizianagaram district) recording heavy rainfall of 7 cm each.

Rain occurred at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while isolated rain occurred over Rayalaseema.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm were Bapatla, Cheepurupalli and Salur 6 cm each, Nandigama and Koilkuntla 5 each, Chintalapudi and Tanuku 4 each, Adilabad, Kalingapatnam, Tuni, Mangalagiri, Owk and Srisailam 3 each, Kakinada, Kurnool, Kanekal, Macherla and Sattenapalli 2 cm each.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers were likely to occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema. There were chances of rain or thundershowers in parts of the city. The maximum temperature was likely to be around 39 degree C.
