Puddicherry, Uttrakhand, Delhi, Manipur in last 8

Chandigarh, June 2 (UNI) Holders Puddicherry topped girls Pool A with an all-win record and six points in the the 21st Junior National Atya Patya Championships being conducted by Chandigarh Atya Patya Association at St Joseph's School ground in Sector 44 here today. They meet Tamil Nadu in quarter-final. Uttrakhand finished runners-up to become second team from Pool A to qualify for the last eight stage.

Manipur and Delhi (Pool B), Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu (Pool C) and Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh (pool D) also moved into the knockout quarter-final stage.

In the morning session, Puddicherry scored two successive wins in boys Pool A programme. Puddicherry toiled to beat Manipur 17-23, 15-12, 30-27 and later defeated Tamil Nadu by 12-10, 11-10. Tamil Nadu suffered their second successive defeat as Delhi beat them by 15-12, 15-14.

Defending champions Puddicherry got full points at the cost of Uttrakhand by 14-11, 12-10. It was their second consecutive win as they had yesterday defeated Chandigarh in a girls Pool A match.

Delhi girls won two matches in their pool B programme. Delhi secured full points after beating Rajasthan by 13-10, 18-15 and later beat Haryana by 13-9, 18-15.
