One held for betting in Manmad
Nashik, Jun 2 (UNI) Police arrested a person for allegedly accepting bets on the cricket matches, played under the just-concluded Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament.
According to police sources, one Balram Phulwani alias Bunty, a resident of Vasant Housing Society at Manmad in Nandgaon taluka of the district, was arrested last night from a shop in Dr Ambedkar Shopping Centre, Manmad.
The police also seized a mobile phone, a colour TV set, Rs 10,000 cashand other materials worth Rs 14,700 from Bunty.
His two aides -- Devanand Phulwani, resident of Tufan Chowk in Manmad, and one Vijay -- are however at large. The trio were accepting bets on Twenty20 cricket matches since April 18.
A case has been registered against them under section 12 (A) of Mumbai Gambling Act and further investigation are on.
Bunty was today produced before a local court, which granted him bail, sources added.
