Mah Wrestler Yuvaraj Patil killed in road accident
Kolhapur, June 2 (UNI) Renowned Wrestler and Maharashtra 'Kesari winner Yuvaraj Patil died in a road accident near Kedarwadi Phata in Sangli district on the Pune-Bangalore national highway, about 55 km from here, today.
Patil (47) and three others were on their way back to Kolhapur from Pune when the car-driver lost control of the vehicle, which hit roadside stones and overturned, sources said.
All the four seriously injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.
However, Patil succumbed to his injuries on admission, police said.
Patil is the first wrestler from the state, who had won the Maharashtra Kesari wrestling championship when he was 17-year-old.
Mr Patil had recently joined the Shiv Sena.
His body was brought here and flown to his native place Koparde village in the district for the last rites.
