Madurai, Jun 2: Janata Party (JP) will file a suit against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Supreme Court (SC) for not taking action against Union Minister for shipping T R Baalu over his alleged misuse of official power in favouring his son's firms recently.

Party president Dr Subramaniam Swamy said he had written two letters to the Prime Minister urging him to order a probe by vigilance and anti-corruption police against Mr Baalu in this regard. ''But, there is no response from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) so far. Hence, the party will file a suit against Dr Singh in the Supreme Court, shortly,'' he said. He alleged that the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu had failed to check terrorism and naxalism in the state.

He also urged the Tamil Nadu government to implement Hogenekkal drinking water project as per schedule, since a new government had assumed office in Karnataka.
