Gogoi asks PM to provide special package for NRL
New Delhi, Jun 2 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi here today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and requested him to grant a special package of Rs 200-300 crore for the Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) to make it economically viable.
The CM also called on Home Minister Shivraj Patil and discussed a wide range of issues including the law and order situation in the state.
Sources said the issue of the appointment of the next Governor of Assam was also raised during the meeting. It is not yet clear whether the Mr Gogoi has given a go ahead for the appointment.
He also called on Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and discussed the Numaligarh Refinery issue.
Mr Gogoi was here to attend the International Conference on Terrorism which was held yesterday.
