CPI(M) begins indefinite hunger strike
Nashik, Jun 2 (UNI) The district unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxists) today began its indefinite hunger strike protesting against rising inflation.
Some 300-400 activists of the party participated in the agitation in front of the District Collectorate here.
Besides their main demand to curb inflation, they were also demanding for roll back of proposed hike in petroleum products, strict action against hoarders, ban on futures trading of essential commodities, availability of essential goods at fair price shops, availability of foodgrain quota to all BPL, APL and Antodaya cardholders, extension of BPL card limit to Rs 50,000 and prevention of black marketing of kerosene.
A delegation of the agitators submitted a memoranda with 15,000 signatures to District Collector Ramesh Kale this evening. He assured the delegation to look into their issues.
