Court asks Versova police to file reply

Mumbai, June 2 (UNI) A local court today issued a notice to Versova Police to file their reply tomorrow, on an anticipatory bail application (ABA) filed by Jamendra Ahuja, nephew of Bollywood actor and Congress MP Govinda, in an assault case filed against him by his fiancee.

Advocate Ashok Sutrale, representing Ahuja, said here today Jamendra and complainant Panchali Gupta, were known to each other since last two-and-half-years. Subsequently they fell in love.

However, they used to quarrel frequently over petty issues.

On May 29, they had an arguement, in which Ms Gupta suffered minor injuries. Following that, she had lodged a complaint with Versova police under sections 452, 324, 427,337 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Fearing his arrest, Jameendra moved an ABA in the Sessions court.

The court has issued a notice to Versova police station, directing them to reply on the application tomorrow. Thereafter, hearing on the application would take place, he added.
