Cong defends DD for covering 20-20 cricket in Amethi

New Delhi, June 2 (UNI) The Congress today strongly defended Doordarshan for covering the Rajiv Gandhi Rural 20-20 cricket tournament in Amethi, stating that the ''innovative'' match with a prize money deserved such a treatment from the state electronic media.

AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi was the chief guest at the final match of the tournament at his Lok Sabha constituency today.

Asked about the need for DD covering the match, AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters that all private channels were giving so much of attention to the IPL 20-20 matches for the past six weeks and it should not bother them if DD paid attention to matches organised by rural people.
