Bopaiah appointed Protem Speaker of K'taka Assembly
Bangalore, June 2 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislator K G Bopaiah has been named as Protem Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly until a new Speaker is elected by the House.
Karnataka Assembly Secretary S B Patil, in a communique here today, said Governor Rameshwar Thakur had appointed Mr Bopaiah as the Protem Speaker and he would continue in office till a new Speaker was elected.
The Governor had also convened a two-day session of the Assembly on June four and five, during which period the newly elected MLAs would take oath.
Protem Speaker Bopaiah would administer the oath of office to the newly elected 224 members.
