BEO arrested by Lokayukta for taking bribe
Bangalore, June 2 (UNI) Block Education Officer (BEO) of Devadurga in Raichur District, Rama Shetty was arrested by Karnataka Lokayukta police on the charges of accepting bribe for showing official favour today.
According to a release here, Mr Pampanna, Assistant Teacher in Government High School, Arakere, Devadurga Taluk in Raichur District had with permission from DDPI had attended B.Ed Open University Communication Programme and could not attend 'Chinnara Mela' Camp during holidays following which Head Master had sent a report to BEO about his absence.
Mr Pampanna approached Rama Shetty for release of his salary held up and for a transfer to other school, but he was asked to pay Rs 10,000.
Rama Shetty was caught redhanded while accepting the bribe amount and was arrested.
