8 mln telecom subscribers added during April
New Delhi, June 2 (UNI) Total telephone connections added during April declined 30 per cent to 8.00 million as compared to 10.40 million connections added in the previous month.
The total connections stood at 308.51 million connections at the end of April 2008 against the subscriber base of 300.51 million, the data released today by telecom regulator TRAI showed.
The overall tele-density is 26.89 per cent at the end of April 2008 as against 26.22 per cent in previous month.
In wireless (GSM, CDMA&WLL(F)) segment, the base stood at 269.30 million at the end of April 2008, with addition of 8.21 million subscribers as against 10.16 million wireless subscribers added in the previous month.
In the wireline segment, the subscriber base decreased to 39.21 million in the month of April 2008 as against 39.42 million subscribers in March 2008.
