17-yr old student raped in Jammu

Jammu, Jun 2 (UNI) A girl student was raped by a police constable and a hotel owner inside Police Quarters situated at Gulshan Ground here, official sources today said.

The sources said an 11th class student of Government Higher Secondary School, Nowshera, was raped early today morning. Both the accused have been arrested by the police.

''The girl student, was brought to Jammu from Nowshera yesterday by one Mohd Ashraf, a Kashmiri youth presently working in Nowshera town of Rajouri district,'' the sources told UNI adding that both checked-in at a local hotel here while Mr Ashraf fled away leaving the girl student alone.

''Hotel owner, Romesh Sharma called upon one Selection Grade Constable (SGC) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, identified as Shabir Ahmed and the duo took the girl to under-construction Police Quarters at Gulshan Ground,'' the police added.

However, the girl was raped by the constable, who left after committing the crime while the girl raised an alarm when the hotel owner Romesh Sharma was about to commit rape on her.

''The girl shouted and sought help. On hearing her, a lady Head Constable in the nearby quarters rushed to the venue and the girl was rescued,'' police added saying, ''both constable and the hotel owner were arrested from Jandrah in Samba district while police has launched a hunt to nab Mohd Ashraf, who brought the girl to Jammu,'' they said.
