12,000 tonne wheat get wet in rain
Ratlam, MP, June 2 (UNI) As a result of showers accompanied by strong winds in this district last night, 12,000 tonne wheat, worth about Rs 12 crore, kept in agriculture produce mandi premises has got wet.
Official sources said 75,000 tonne wheat was produced in this district last year. About 12,000 tonne wheat was kept in open due to lack of space in godowns of central government and the Madhya Pradesh Government.
District Food Officer B S Tomar said small quantity of wheat has been kept in open and covered with plastic. Private godowns were being hired for storing wheat.
Unconfirmed sources put the value of wheat that has got wet at Rs 12 crore.
