UP Cong meet to select candidates for LS polls

Lucknow, June 1: Uttar Pradesh Congress will hold a two-day meeting here from tomorrow to draw the strategy for the coming Lok Sabha elections including the selection of candidates.

Congress General Secretary and UP in charge Digvijay Singh along with union ministers Sriprakash Jaiswal, Mahabir Prasad and state Congress chief Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi would participate in the meeting.

Party spokesperson Virendra Madan said here today that the leaders will meet the district and town presidents to assess the preparation for the Lok Sabha polls and setting up of the booth level committes.

''The second day meeting with members of the cordination committee and legislators will be vital, when the leaders would review the panel of the probables for the Lok Sabha elections,'' Mr Madan informed.

He said the leaders would also finalise the panel of names of candidate for all the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
