TRS strategy failed in by-election: CM
Hyderabad, Jun 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said 'the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's (TRS) strategy has failed miserably in the by-elections.
Addressing the press here, Dr Reddy said ''the TRS thought that the Telangana sentiment was their sole property, but, the results proved that the TRS does not hold the Telangana issue alone.'' Pointing out that the TRS had been claiming that the Congress won majority seats in 2004 election by forging alliance with it, he said 'there was no meaning in its claim. In fact it was the other way round.' Claiming that the Congress won the Vikarabad, Jadcharla, Dichpalli and Ella Reddy where the party was very weak and did not have orgnisational set up since 1983, the Chief Minister said the percentage of votes polled by Congress had increased compared to last election.
Stating that the people's verdict in the byelections was a slap on the face of 'arrogant politics' adopted by the TRS, Dr Reddy said his government was committed to the development of backward Telangana by completing all irrigation projects taken up four years ago.
'The UPA government's good governance, NREGP programme, loan waiver scheme and the AICC President Sonia Gandhi's image has yielded good results for the Congress,' he said.
