Taslima hopes to return to India in July-August

''I will come to India in July or August. Leaving India permanently means death to me. After coming, I will see whether I would be allowed to enter Kolkata or not,'' Taslima said. The writer is now staying in Sweden. "Although I was put in a safe house in Delhi it was like a 'chamber of death'. I faced physical and mental torture. And such was the problem that I was left with no other option but to leave India," Taslima said. The writer of controversial books 'Lajja' and 'Dvikhandita' had to leave India in March this year following protest from Islamic groups against her writings.

Earlier in February, Nasreen was forced to move out of Kolkata following violent protests by people belonging to the minority community led by All India Minority Forum, who were demanding cancellation of her visa. She was sent to Jaipur from Kolkata and then shifted to Delhi. Taslima has been living in exile for more than ten years. Since the 1990s, she has faced numerous threats from Islamic groups for her writings.
