Supreme Judicial Commission may be given authority to remove judges in Pakistan

Islamabad, June1 : According to a new proposal pertaining to judiciary in Pakistan, the Supreme Judicial Commission should be given authority to remove judges instead of Supreme Judicial Council.

The President will seek Prime Minister's advice before exercising his authority to remove the judges. Federal Minister for Law Farooque H. Naek stated that the proposed constitutional package would be presented in the Parliament for debate after discussions with the allied parties.

In a meeting with Farooque Naek, Pakistan Mulim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif said that only unanimity of views between Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and PML-N can ensure lasting democracy in the country.
