Six tribals held, two arrested, guns seized

Coimbatore, Jun 1 (UNI) Six tribals of a family were taken into custody by the District Rural Police and two single barrel country made guns were seized at Narayanamurthy Gudi near Sinkona Periakallar estate in Valparai in the district today.

Police said, however, after investigation two people-- Murugan and his brother Mahendran-- were arrested for possessing guns without license.

The arrests were made during a search conducted for naxalites at all the 34 tribal settlement in and around Valparai.

Further investigation had revealed that they did not have any link with naxalites and had possessed the guns without license to hunt deer in the forest, police added.
