Patna, Jun 1 (UNI) The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today demanded immediate arrest of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi for having ''bribed'' Mohan Guruswami, the advisor to former finance minister Yashwant Sinha to strike an out-of-court settlement in connection with a case pending against him in a Delhi court.

National spokesman of the party Shyam Rajak told newspersons here that the Rs one lakh given by Mr Modi to Mr Guruswami came under the purview of ''bribing'' and a criminal case against the former should be instituted and he be arrested forthwith for the offence committed by him.

''Chief Minister Nitish Kumar never fails to claim of providing good governance with justice and equality before law, but in the case of Mr Modi, he appears to have turned Nelson's eye,'' Mr Rajak noted and urged Mr Kumar to take stern action against Mr Modi without further delay.

The RJD leader recalled that Jitan Ram Manjhi had been dropped from the cabinet by Mr Kumar on grounds that he was involved in a criminal case and Ramanand Singh, cabinet minister, transport, had also faced similar treatment from him under similar circumstances.

''Chief Minister should adopt the same policy in case of Mr Modi and he should be shown the exit door of the state cabinet,'' he added.
