Lovers commit suicide in Thane

Thane, Jun 1: A young couple in love allegedly committed suicide here for reasons which are not yet clear to the police.

Sulochana Karbari, a physically-challenged girl who earned her livelihood by operating a telephone booth, and Kishore Vairalkar, a private bank employee, had been seeing each other for the last three years, police said.

Their were found at Sulochana's residence at Shivaji Nagar in Wagle Estate. The two had ended their lives by consuming poison, police added.

The bodies were discovered yesterday after one of Kishore's friends called him on his mobile phone. When the phone went unanswered, he went to Sulochana's residence to inquire, but found that the door locked from inside. Despite persistent knocking, no one opened the door which led the friend to suspect that something was amiss.

He then with the help of the neighbours, broke open the door and found the couple lying dead.

The two had eaten ice-cream laced with poison, police said.
