Election Commission objects to transfer of district collectors
Bhubaneswar, Jun 1 (UNI) Orissa State Election Commission today objected the transfer of district collectors made by the state government yesterday.
As per the election code no district collectors could be transferred when the election process was on.
State Election Commissioner S K Hota said the government could not reshuffle the district collectors as the revision of electoral roll for the urban local bodies completing their term on September 30 was under way.
Mr Hota said transfers could be made only after the completion of the electoral roll on June 30 next.
The Commissioner said he would write to the government in this regard tomorrow.
The government in an order yesterday had transfereed Collectos of Kendrapara, Balasore, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Keonjhar.
