Black Elephant beat YPS

Patiala, June 1 (UNI) Black Elephant Cricket Club (BECC), Patiala, defeated the local Yadavindra Public School (YPS), convincingly at the latter's ground in the 10th Hot Weather League-cum-Knock Out cricket tournament here today after the overs were reduced due to light shower.

Batting first, BECC were all out for 101 in the allotted 30 overs. Prabhjot (27), Anmolpreet Singh (25) and Tejpreet Singh (12) were the main run getters. For YPS, S Singla took 2 for 21 and Angad too bagged an equal number of wickets, conceding 22 runs.

In reply, YPS were bundled out for 40 in 18.3 overs. Ekjot (17) and A.Verma (11) were the main scorers.

For BECC, Gurtek Singh bowled well to capture 4 wickets, giving away just 2 runs, while Prabhjot and D Sharma took two wickets each, conceding 5 and 9 runs respectively. BECC won the match by 41 runs.

In another match played at the Army cricket ground, APJS, Kharar, beat the fancied Sumit Dogra Cricket Academy (SDCA), Delhi, in a close match.

Batting first, SDCA were all out for 171 in the allotted 35 overs. S Chauhan scored a blazing half century (59). Ishant Sharma (38) and Nakul Singh (25) were the other run getters. For APJS, Mandeep bowled well to bag 3 for 31.

In reply, APJS scored 172 for 8 in 33.2 overs. Arjit Singh batted beautifully to score 64, while Sarthak too played well to notch up a neatly compiled half century (50). For SDCA, Madhav and P Venkat Shiva took 2 wickets each, conceding 16 and 18 runs respectively.

The third match between Mohali Cricket Association and Dronacharya Cricket Foundation, Delhi, could not be played at DMW ground due to rain. Both the teams earned a point each.
