Army NCO shoots himself dead in Jammu

Jammu, June 1 (UNI) A Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the Army allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle here last night in Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir, official spokesperson today said.

Havildar Jaspal Singh of 14 Sikh Light Infantry (SIKH LI), resident of Patiala (Punjab), shot himself dead with his service weapon at 2145 hrs at Pargwal in Akhnoor sector, Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.

The Army has lodged an FIR with police and instituted a court of inquiry (CoI) to look into the matter, the spokesperson added.
