Panel report on power deals likely by this month
Shillong, May 31 (UNI) The official committee, studying the power deals in Meghalaya, will submit its report to the state Cabinet shortly, state Power Minister Cornard K Sangma said.
The committee has already prepared a draft and will hold a final session on the issue very soon.
The minister said the companies concerned had already been given a non-operational letter to keep the power projects in abeyance.
The state government will study which firms are financially and technically sound as well as all the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
Mr Sangma said among the interested parties, one group had the experience of having generated 6,000 MW power all over the country.
However, a number of Non-Government Organisations and people have already opposed the move of handing over the power projects to private companies in the state.
