IIT girl student commits suicide
Kanpur, May 31 (UNI) In yet another suicide by a student, a girl from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K), ended her life over failure in examination.
Toya Chatterjee (22), a B Tech (IV) student, hanged self in her hostel room late last night, police said today.
According to IIT-K Director Dr Sanjay Dhande, Toya was a bright and promising student and had arrived here on along with her father from Kolkata to participate in the convocation of the Institute, which was scheduled for today.
The girl had failed in two papers and was tense, he added.
Toya left a suicide note addressed to her father in Bengali and expressed regret for not getting the degree.
The body had been sent for autopsy, while further investigation were underway.
