Sugar prices slip on thin bulk consumers demand
Navi Mumbai, May 30 (UNI) Prices of sugar drifted lower for the third consecutive day today and eased by Rs 10 per quintal on sustained offers by stockists in face of larger stock arrivals from co-operative mills, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.
Small and Medium sugar prices were down by over Rs 25 per quintal in the last three days and quoted between Rs 1452 and Rs 1570 per quintal in the domestic market.
Prices of small and medium grades were down by Rs 10 and Rs five per quintal respectively on sluggish demand by bulk consumers in view of better stock suuply at the terminal markets.
Prices of ex-mill small and medium grades dropped by Rs ten each, on thin buying support from dealers, traders added.
Following are the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,450/1,500, Medium grade: Rs 1,475/1,560.
Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,430/1,455 and medium grade: Rs 1,455/1,485.
