RCF gets certification for work place management

Kapurthala, May 30 (UNI) Rail Coach Factory (RCF) has become the first organisation in the Indian Railways to get the 5-S certification on various quality aspects.

A spokesman of the RCF today said it had acquired 5-S certification, which is one of the Japanese quality tools used for work place management, for seven departments.

''The objective of obtaining this certificate is to enhance the efficiency of staff by better house keeping and easier traceability of items. It improves safety standard also,'' he said.

''Plans are afoot to acquire the 5-S certification for the entire factory in the near future,'' he added.

RCF has already got ISO 9001-2000 certificate and is the first organisation in the country to obtain ISO-14001 certification for both workshop and township.

Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Hyderabad had conducted an extensive audit of accounts, personnel, CMM office, shell store depot and metallurgical&chemist lab before recommending it for 5-S certification.
