NE performs well in NSS

Shillong, May 30 (UNI) The North Eastern states have done well in National Service Schemes (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) schemes compared to other states in the country.

Secretary of the Union Youth Affairs S K Arora said at a programme orientation organised by NSS of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) the NE states performed extremely well than other states in terms of NSS and NYK schemes.

Encouraging the youth clubs to involve in various income generating activities, the Secretary said economic development should go hand in hand with protection of environment.

NSS programme coordinator speaking at the programme orientation informed that the number of NSS members in the state has gone up comparing it was during 1974-75.
