MES union members protest Pay Commission's recommendations
Jalandhar, May 30 (UNI) Members of the MES Workers Union today staged 'dharna' against the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.
On a call given by the All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF), members of the MES Workers Union (Area Committee) from Ambala, Jalandhar, Suranasi, Kapurthala, Beas and Adampur branches staged 'dharna' in front of the Office of Commander Works Engineer, Jalandhar Cantt, demanding immidiate implementation of the Sixth Central Pay Commission with amendments.
The Union members, under the leadership of MES Workers Union, Ambala branch, president Dev Rajmanna and secretary Gurbax Rai also submitted a charter of demands to Commander Works Engineer in the name of Defence Minister A K Antony.
The union members said, ''Various recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission are against the interest of the Defence Civilian Employees and that is why, we are forced to resort to agitation.'' The protest, if continued for long would result in serious disturbance in the productivity and harmonious industrial relations,'' they said.
