Hooda appeals people to maintain peace

Chandigarh, May 30 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today appealed to people in the state to maintain peace and communal amity and to not resort to agitation in view of the on going Gujjar agitation of the Gujjars in the neighbouring state of Rajasthan.

''Although in a democratic set up everybody has a right to express one's view point, but that should be done with dialogue and not through violent agitation causing loss of life and property," the Chief Minister said in a statement issued here.

''There have been occasions when the people of Haryana have shown exemplary self restraint despite provocations. I hope that they would not be swayed by the provocative assertions of the vested interests and help the administration in maintaining peace.'' He also made it clear that those found taking law and order in their hands would be dealt with sternly.
