DM raids hospital over claims of corruption
Sultanpur, May 29 (UNI) In a bid to check corruption, Sultanpur District Magistrate today visited the district hospital as a patient and nabbed a doctor for not providing medical facilities.
Over a complaint, DM Vishal Rai went to a doctor M C Gupta in the district hospital as a patient, where the doctor there referred him to a private pathology and medical store for prescribed tests and medicines.
Mr Rai told the doctor that he was ''a poor man'' and could not afford to buy the medicines, over which the government doctor scolded him and asked to leave the premises.
Over this, Mr Rai unfolded the drama and revealed his identity, leaving the doctor red-faced.
Mr Rai informed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr A N Tripathi about the malpractices at the hospital. He also inspected the other wards and found many flaws there.
Seeing the officials, the patients also broke their silence and told them that they were being asked to purchase the medicines from the nearby medical stores.
Later, the DM conducted raids at the medical stores and assured of stringent action against the defaulters.
He said official inquiry would be initiated into the case and the guilty would be punished.
