BMC prepared for rescue and relief operation during monsoon

Mumbai, May 30 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation today said it was prepared to meet any eventuality during the monsoon and claimed that its officials will reach any water-logged or landslide affected areas in any part of the city within 30 minutes and rescue the stranded people.

''If you are in a area of water logging or there is a short circuit in your area or you are affected by a landslide during the monsoon, BMC officials will reach the spot within 30 minutes and rescue the affected people and do damage control,'' said Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbiye while talking to reporters here.

He said ''The corporation officials under DMC S S Shinde will conduct the rescue operations within 30 minutes after receiving information.'' It may be noted that in July 2005, the city was badly affected due to heavy rains and the corporation officials and other rescue teams could not reach the affected areas on time, leading to loss of many lives and property.
