AP gets ready to count votes on June one

Hyderabad, May 30 (UNI) All arrangements have been made for counting of the votes polled in the May 29 byelections to four Parliament and 18 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, on June one, state Chief Electoral Officer I V Subha Rao said today.

As many as 18 counting centres have been set up for counting the votes for the Assembly seats and 28 for counting votes polled in the Lok Sabha byelections. The counting would commence at 0800 hrs on June one, he told reporters here.

In all 1,600 poll personnel would be involved in the counting of votes, which were recorded in 9,000 electronic voting machienes, he said.

According to final figures received from the districts, 62 per cent of the voters exercised their franchise in the byelections.

Taking a serious note of the missing of names of voters from the voters list and errors in the electronic photo identity cards, he said a drive would be launched from next week to rectify the same.
